... "Simon, I have something to say to you." ... ~ Luke 7:40 Though Simon thought Jesus was less than He was, ... ... Jesus instructed him … "... he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?" ~ Luke 7:41-43 How much love and appreciation would come from one forgiven so much, ... to regain life? "... you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head." ~ Luke 7:44 → A response of service. ... He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, ... ~ John 13:5-7 Jesus clearly taught that we should maintain acts of service. "You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in." ~ Luke 7:45 → Acts of worship. "... Do not be unbelieving, but believing." ~ John 20:27-29 "You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil." ~ Luke 7:46 → Putting a blessing on Him and endorsing His mission. Jesus somewhat insulted Simon by putting the “Greater” repentor above him. Then He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." ... ~ Luke 7:48-50 Her faith and trust in Him saved her. ~ Simon perhaps thought he had no sins to be forgiven him. "... unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." ~ Matthew 5:20 To be in fellowship with God, we need to:
