3/6/2011 ~ Is The Savior Your Lord?


   Light of the World   











And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, ... ~ 1st Timothy 1:12-17

The deeper one gets in to the word the richer it becomes.
~ It is growth in the truth that increases appreciation of God.  


Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this
is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. ~ 1st Thessalonians 5:16-18


We give thanks to God always for you all, ... ~ 1st Thessalonians 1:2-3

  Thankful for everyone in CHRIST.

... thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, ... ~ 2nd Thessalonians 1:3

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, ... ~ Philippians 1:3-4

Key to a pure hert is thankfulness.

... Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, ... ~ 1st Timothy 1:12
                                                          └─> Paul’s strength comes from the Lord.

     ┌─> Paul had been zealously living in darkness.
... I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly ... ~ 1st Timothy 1:13
Moved from ignorance in to knowledge. <─┘                                    

... they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. ~ Romans 10:2

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you ... ~ Hosea 4:6


... it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge, ... ~ Proverbs 19:2

Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
~ Ephesians 5:17


Christ came that we may know God.

And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, ... ~ 1st Timothy 1:14

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. ... ~ 1st John 3:16

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus:
that if One died for all, then all died; ... ~ 2nd Corinthians 5:14


Christ loved us to death, so our reaction should mirror this.

... He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
~ 1st John 4:9-10


We love Him because He first loved us. ~ 1st John 4:19

The main point is that Jesus openly and genuinely loves us.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a
defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope ... ~ 1st Peter 3:15


To sanctify Him we must make Him Lord.

POSITION CONSIDERATION JUDGMENT
Unsanctified A Savior Has favor with men
Sanctified As Lord Has favor with God

Jesus as a Savior has widespread appeal
but not making Him Lord thwarts salvation.
~
Christ is not just our Savior, He is our Almighty Lord.


CHRIST as LORD is then our SAVIOR

┌─> Read and increase your faith.    
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all aceptance, that Christ Jesus
came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. ~ 1st Timothy 1:15


... concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; ...
~ Philippians 3:4-6


Paul acknowledged sins from his former self.
                                            ↓
... not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
~ 1st Corinthians 15:9


Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; ... ~ Philippians 3:13-14

... in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those
who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. ~ 1st Timothy 1:15-16


Paul is an example to us in his longsuffering for Christ.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, ... is longsuffering toward us, not
willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. ~ 2nd Peter 3:9


... and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation ... ~ 2nd Peter 3:15

Paul can be saved.
We can be saved.

Paul knew Christ in the flesh as a blasphemer and deceiver.

... we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him
thus no longer. ~ 2nd Corinthians 5:16


The truth of God is higher than men.
We need to see Christ in the light, not as in the flesh.
We need to meet with Him in spirit and truth.


"... those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." ~ John 4:24

With a sincere heart, we need to show Him Honor for the Glory that He is.

... to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise,
be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. ~ 1st Timothy 1:17


1st Timothy 1:12-17
12  The source of all power is Christ
13  Mercy can be shown for all previous sins
14  Christ’s love for us all provides our faith and love
15  We are all inexcusable sinners offered salvation through Christ
16  Each Christian is an example of God’s longsuffering for our return
17  Christ's all knowing life affords all honor in eternal glory

... the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, ... ~ Galatians 3:17
