We live in a culture of NOW or we wanted it yesterday. As Christians we need to view the larger picture. Patience, Endurance, Perseverance; all words found in the Bible. The Dictionary defines patience as:
... the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. ... ~ Matthew 18:21-35 ... tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; ... ~ Romans 5:1-5 Along with patience, experience is gained as well as hope. ... through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. ... ~ Romans 15:1-5 ... to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; ... ~ Colossians 1:10-12 ... So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, ... ~ 2nd Kings 5:9-14 If we pray for patience we may be asked to do something demeaning. Trials of circumstance bring about growth in our lives. Qualities Associated with Patience.
These are the words of the Bible. Jesus exhibited these traits more than any other man. ~ We are unhappy because we don’t have what we want found in the future. - Do we miss the fruits of today? → One does if you are miserable under the weight of today.
... peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts ... ~ Philippians 4:7 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, ... ~ Colossians 3:15
If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. ~ Romans 12:18 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, ... ~ James 3:17
... with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, ... ~ Ephesians 4:2 ... bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, ... ~ Colossians 3:13
And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. ~ 1st Timothy 6:8 ... for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: ... ~ Philippians 4:11 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. ~ 1st Timothy 6:6
... that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, ... ~ 1st Thessalonians 4:11 ... through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness ... ~ 2nd Thessalonians 3:12
But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes ... ~ 1st Thessalonians 2:7 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, ... ~ 2nd Timothy 2:24

... serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials ... ~ Acts 20:19 ... humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." ~ 1st Peter 5:5 ... in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps ... ~ 2nd Timothy 2:25 ... to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. ~ Titus 3:1-2
... receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. ~ James 1:21 ... by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. ~ James 3:13 ... to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; ...~ 1st Peter 3:15
... for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. ~ Matthew 11:28-29 ... but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. ~ Philippians 2:3
... full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. ~ James 3:17 ... he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. ~ Romans 12:8 Patience is one of the hardest things to do for us as Americans where we cough to compete with our neighbors and peers. - Is our culmination that of dismal efforts? → It will be if we lack faith in truth; patience. ... as an example of suffering and patience. Indeed we count them blessed who endure. ... ~ James 5:10-11 ... "Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked shall I return there. ..." ~ Job 1:21 Does looking for more leave you shallow? We need to learn patience for the good of our living and soul contentment. ... Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who ... ~ 1st Timothy 1:15-16 God’s patience is shown throughout time in more than a day or year, but millenniums. Noah preached for years before the Lord's flood came. Lord, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see. ... ~ Isaiah 26:11 God uses warnings as an incentive to repent. Lessons can take hundreds of years. "... and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years." ~ Genesis 15:13 God’s hammer eventually swings in swift judgment. For He does not afflict willingly, Nor grieve the children of men. ~ Lamentations 3:33 Through study and prayer we can become more patient. Are you ready for God through Jesus Christ? |
